The Covid -19 pandemic is having an uneven economic impact on communities, with the elderly among the most affected. National Aged Network of Zimbabwe in partnership with SARAN and The Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, and funded by OSISA is assisting older persons in selected communities with food. This is aimed at alleviating the problem of food shortages among this vulnerable group while at the same time reducing the need for them to expose themselves to COVID-19 infections through unnecessary movements looking for food. In this quest,the partners distributed food hampers to the elderly in Chitungwiza on Friday the 16th of July 2021. Chitungwiza is one of the hardest hit (by COVID-19) settlements in the country and is home to more than 14 000 older persons.
