Many older persons in both urban and rural areas are very actively involved in paid and unpaid work, caregiving to grand children and relatives as well as civic activism. Some have been able to be sole guardian to orphaned grand children and those left behind as parents went to search for greener pastures that are not yielding any plough back to their families left behind.
